OCONEE DEMOCRATS MOVIE NIGHT: MONDAY SEPT 1st @ 6:30p

The Oconee Democrats invite the public to join them for a Movie Night to see and discuss the new documentary GONZO: THE LIFE AND WORK OF DR. HUNTER S. THOMPSON. Ticket and concession prices at Ciné are reduced on Mondays. Attendees should meet inside after buying tickets and are invited to stay after the movie to discuss the film.

Becky Vaughn, Chair of the Oconee Democrats, said, "Hunter S. Thompson was a troubled but brilliant journalist whose writing changed political journalism. Our group is always striving to learn more about our nation's rich history -- and even its renegades -- through films, books, and discussions. We want to get together, too, to show our support for the area's only arthouse cinema -- a wonderful resource."

SCREENING: TERMINUS & THE SOLOMON GRUNDY SHOW - WED SEPT 3rd

7:00p - THE SOLOMON GRUNDY SHOW - Follows Solomon Grundy (Lawrence Johnson), a quirky and lonely writer, just as he begins a trial separation from his wife Martha (Josie Lawson). STEAMBOAT BILL

EVENT: KENOSHA KID PERFORMANCE - SEPTEMBER 20th & 21st

Bandleader/composer/guitarist Dan Nettles has woven a stunning sonic tapestry that fits alongside Buster Keaton’s classic silent film STEAMBOAT BILL, JR. Although equally steeped in American jazz tradition, the music manages to defy complete classification. Rather than focusing on long-winded soloing, the emphasis is always on the total band sound, melody and texture, and solid grooves. The event is designed to have something for everyone: It’s a jazz concert… it’s a film… it’s a chamber ensemble… it’s a comedy… it’s a rock band… it’s all these things rolled into one.

KENOSHA KID is an international jazz collective formed by composer/guitarist Dan Nettles. Based in the college-rock haven of Athens, Georgia, Nettles leads several incarnations of the band and has performed his music in the U.S., Europe, and Canada.

SHOWTIMES: SATURDAY 9/20 @ 8p & 10p - SUNDAY 9/21 @ 4p

ADMISSION: $10
