This AthFest weekend, join us for a diverse series of new locally produced films, including: KNIGHTS TO KINGS, an inspiring documentary from Chess & Community on their travels to Ethiopia; ATHENS RISING, a feature documentary from local filmmaker James Preston celebrating the creative class in the Classic City; DOWN & YONDER, a southern drama made by Christopher Flippo and UGA students in their hometowns in Northwest Georgia; and a midnight program of alternative microcinema from Andrew Shearer and Athens underground film collective GONZORIFFIC.

A documentary following the journey of Chess & Community's Classic City Knights as they travel to the village of Kutaber, Ethiopia. The pride of this nation is as infectious as its kindness and love; the people as beautiful and rugged as the terrain. Poverty is redefined and identity is reassessed for these eight young boys through an empowering transformation from Knights to Kings.
