Stop Making Sense (with Jim White Introduction) at Cine

Stop Making Sense (with Jim White Introduction)

88 mins | Rated PG (for brief suggestive material.)

Directed by Jonathan Demme

Starring David Byrne, Tina Weymouth, Talking Heads, Chris Frantz, Jerry Harrison

Jim White is a legendary singer-songwriter, a Pushcart Prize-winning author, and a visual artist. He has released ten critically
acclaimed albums, including the cult classic, Wrong-Eyed Jesus, produced by David Byrne—a major character in White’s stellar new book, “Incidental Contact.”

"The circumstances surrounding the origins of Jim White and David Byrne's kinship dance are nothing short of extraordinary. White's Pushcart Prize winning short story Superwhite documents how he, a mentally ill New York City cab driver, and the legendary Talking Heads frontman first crossed paths, eventually leading to Byrne offering White a multi record contract on his much ballyhooed Luaka Bop imprint."

___

Newly restored in 4K to coincide with its 40th anniversary, the 1984 film was directed by renowned filmmaker Jonathan Demme and is considered by critics as the greatest concert film of all time. Stop Making Sense stars core band members David Byrne, Tina Weymouth, Chris Frantz, and Jerry Harrison along with Bernie Worrell, Alex Weir, Steve Scales, Lynn Mabry and Edna Holt. The live performance was shot over the course of three nights at Hollywood's Pantages Theater in December of 1983 and features Talking Heads' most memorable songs.
